Take a day trip with us to Fallingwater, the masterwork home of Frank Lloyd Wright. Price includes shuttle fee and tour ticket. Shuttle pick-up and drop-off details will be emailed to those who pre-register. Must register-onsite registration not available!

Staff Council Ice Cream Social

All CMU staff are encouraged to join the members of Staff Council for an all-staff ice cream social. Get to know your representatives and what initiatives are currently underway as we kick off Spring Carnival for staff. You'll also get a chance to meet the candidates running for a seat on next year's Council and to ask those difficult questions.

Dunk-a-Cop for Special Olympics!
3:30-7 p.m.
All "dunkees" are CMUPD uniformed officers who are, naturally, in uniform when they hit the water! All proceeds go to Special Olympics of Pennsylvania.

Statistics Department's Morris H. Degroot Memorial Endowed Lecture: Nancy Reid
4-5 p.m.
Nancy Reid, who has made groundbreaking contributions to the field of statistical sciences. A professor and Canada Research Chair at the University of Toronto, she is also a devoted leader in the Canadian statistical community. Her research is aimed at finding more accurate and efficient methods to deduce and conclude facts from complex data sets, ultimately helping scientists find specific solutions to specific problems. As chair of the NSERC Long Range Plan Steering Committee for the Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, she helped to set a course for research funding strategies and to promote mathematical and statistical sciences for years to come. Reception follows.

The Alumni Association invites our more than 1,000 CMU faculty and staff who are also CMU alumni for complimentary espresso and cappuccino, and a preview of the Alumni Association's new Midway Tent @ The Fence.

Meet current students and alumni interested in entrepreneurship at this showcase of research with a focus on start-ups and spin-offs. A reception immediately follows.

Scotch'n'Soda Theatre Carnival Show: Heathers The Musical *
7 p.m.
Heathers is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and befriend Heather… but J.D. has another plan for that bullet. This is our biggest production of the year, so come join us.
Tickets available at the door: $5 students/$10 alumni and guests.

Buggy Alumni Association (BAA) Welcome Event
7-9 p.m.
Buggy Alumni: join the BAA for a casual "welcome back to Pittsburgh" event to help kick-start the weekend. Meet us at Hough's in Greenfield for some reminiscing about our buggy days and for some debate on who will be the lead contenders this year.
