Network Nights

Networking: The exchange of information or services among individuals, groups, or institutions; specifically: the cultivation of productive relationships for employment or business.

Network Nights are a long-standing tradition at Carnegie Mellon University and are open to undergraduate and graduate students and alumni from all of Carnegie Mellon's colleges and interdisciplinary programs, as well as Carnegie Mellon parents. These regional networking events offer the opportunity for alumni, students, and parents to establish and expand their Carnegie Mellon network at informal evening receptions. More than 700 alumni and students attended Network Night events in 2011-2012, and we hope that you'll join us to network and build relationships with your fellow Tartans throughout 2012-2013.

This year, all of our Network Night events will be supplemented by opportunities for students and alumni to participate in a variety of Heinz Career Services and Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) initiatives. These programs include the following:
  • Heinz Career Services and the CPDC will offer exclusive Carnegie Mellon career fairs, open to students and alumni, prior to Network Night receptions. Note: This opportunity will not be offered as part of the Network Silicon Valley events.
  • CPDC staff will be available for one-on-one career counseling sessions prior to Network Night receptions. Registration for these sessions is available on the Network Night event page.
  • Students who attend Network Night are invited to participate in company site visits in the host city. Interested students should log into TartanTRAK for more information and to register. Alumni and employers who are interested in hosting a site visit should contact Jordan Bell.
  • Alumni and students are encouraged to participate in Take a Tartan to Work, the CPDC’s job shadowing program, prior to or following Network Night.
