What is a Legacy?

A legacy is a student who has family members (both immediate and extended) who are alumni of Carnegie Mellon University. In other words, we recognize the relationship between students and parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc.

Engagement Opportunities

Legacy Ice Cream Social

Are you related to an incoming freshman Legacy? Join other Legacy families and the Alumni Association during First-Year Move-In and Orientation, as we celebrate the freshman Legacy class with ice cream, sorbet, drinks, and a gift! Please contact the Alumni Association for details.

Legacy Receptions

During Ceilidh and/or Spring Carnival Weekends, we host a reception for all Legacy students and families. It is a time to mingle with other Legacy families while on campus. Please contact the Alumni Association for details.

ACS Parents & Legacy Breakfast and Preferred Seating for Families of Graduating Seniors

ACS parents and Legacy families of graduating seniors are invited to join other families at the hospitality suite with breakfast, as well as preferred seating during graduation. Please contact the Alumni Association for details.

Volunteer with the Parents Leadership Program Today

The Parents Leadership Program welcomes alumni parent volunteers! Your personal CMU journey—first as an alumnus and now as a CMU parent—gives you a unique perspective that can be helpful to other parents and students. Volunteers host and participate in events, assist with fundraising activities, and serve as ambassadors for the university, fostering relationships with other parents. If you are interested in participating, please contact Kathy Bogacki at 412-268-5303, or find more on parent volunteer opportunities.
